  25. Right.  There is no way to change the speed of a TCP/IP connection.
  26. It goes as fast as it can.  That's how TCP/IP works.

  28. The computer on the far end, however, doesn't gave a good way to
  29. differentiate between jobs that come in by straight dialup or serial port
  30. (how Unix was originally designed) and those that come in by network.
  31. It pretends you came in by serial port and shows a dummy speed if you
  32. ask it (with stty -a or whatever).  But that speed is meaningless.

  34. If your screen displays are slow, it's for some other reason.  If you
  35. want to pursue it further, we'll need a more detailed description of your
  36. PC, operating system, networking setup, and connection.
